Sul versante est a valle di Scigliano scorre un torrente il Bisirico.    

Questo torrente divide la collina su cui è adagiato il paese da altre completamente ricoperte da castagni che ci forniscono un'aria fresca e salutare.    

Tali boschi nel periodo autunnale sono la meta preferita di molti appassionati cercatori di funghi.     Lungo questo torrente si trovano un tempo una decina di mulini ad acqua.    

Questi sfruttando la forza idraulica dell'acqua azionavano delle grandi mole di granito che macinavano i cereali dei contadini che coltivavano i terreni circostanti.    

I mugnai che lavoravano in questi mulini dovevano essere degli abili artigiani visto che sapevano regolarsi dell'andamento della molitura dal semplice tatto del prodotto.

Inoltre, erano loro stessi che realizzavano le mole e le risistemavano quando cominciavano a levigarsi. 

Si stanno attualmente realizzando lungo questo torrente dei tracciati che è possibile percorrere sia in mountain-bike che a cavallo.    

Infine possiamo chiudere questo percorso attraverso la natura con una riflessione : "tra passeggiate salutari nel verde dei boschi ed aria buona Scigliano fa bene al corpo e ritempra lo spirito".

Scigliano was hardly a casual choice.Located on a hill which spans above the Savuto Valley, extending all the way up to the Tyrrhenian Sea, halfway between the cities of Cosenza and Catanzaro, the Sila and the sea, Scigliano was the ideal location for the fortress, Plans are being made to unearth parts of the castle which still remain buried and to restore it to its original luster,

The Bisirico Stream flows along the Scigliano Valley area and divides the town from adjoining hills that are covered with chestnut trees.      

The woods not only provide Scigliano with a healthy oxygen supply, they are also the perfect place to gather mushrooms in the autumn.      

In the past, the Bisirico Stream was surrounded by watermills that could be seen and heard grinding the grain brought in by local farmers who worked their fertile lands.      

The millers, skilled craftsmen, were able to tell how finely ground the flour was by just running it through their fingers.      

They were also expert handymen, for they were able to fix the heavy grindstone when it wore down.
